About the Evaluator

Ovais Ahmed provides independent forensic mental health evaluations and psychometric testing for attorneys, courts, and referring agencies throughout New Jersey. His work includes violence risk assessment, sentencing mitigation, personal injury, disability, immigration, and other civil and criminal matters, along with record review and case consultation. He accepts referrals from plaintiff and defense counsel, prosecutors, and the courts.

Each evaluation is built around the specific legal question. Ovais combines a structured clinical interview, standardized psychological testing, a thorough review of records, and collateral information where appropriate. Testing includes validity and response-style measures, so conclusions rest on more than self-report. His reports are written in clear language for attorneys, judges, and adjudicators. They explain how each opinion was reached and where its limits lie.

Ovais is board certified as a Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator (CFMHE) and a Certified Forensic Psychometrist (CFP) through the National Board of Forensic Evaluators (NBFE), a pathway that requires supervised forensic training and examination. The CFP credential certifies competence in administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological tests in forensic and medico-legal settings. He is qualified to administer Level C instruments, including the MMPI-3 and PAI.

He is a New Jersey Licensed Professional Counselor with more than six years of clinical mental health experience in trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, and severe and persistent mental illness. That background helps him recognize how psychiatric symptoms genuinely present, and when they may be exaggerated, minimized, or overlooked. He holds a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University.

His opinions are based solely on the data and are not influenced by which party retains him. All evaluations are conducted independently and objectively, with no prior or concurrent therapeutic relationship with the examinee.
